Because BNI Couldn't Find referees four our game in Division 2 with ''Belfast Pumas'', we invited Last years Premier League Champions '' Kilkeel Knights'' basketball club to play a friendly match.
This time '' Wolves'' tryed not to let go the opponents to go in front from first minutes, and worked hard on defense, and with some great shoots by Robertas Gurskas, and good fight under the basket for rebounds by coach Rolandas Bartkus and Lukas Norbutas, we managed to get the game tied, after two periods the score was 42-45 with ''Knights'' in front.
During the half time, a short competition tooked place on the court, with strongest men from bouth teams, Saulius Borovkovas from ''Bc wolves'' and T.Aukstikalnis from ''Knights''. 20 push ups and a free throw - that was the goal to win !! And our mate Saulius were a wee bit better !!! He got the prize from our sponsor ''Pumped Nutrition & Fitness Gym'' !!!! Also some other prizes were on the ''table'' and with lucky tickets spectators got a voucher from ''Beauty Angel'', ''Relish Coffe House'' And ''Rustic Goodies'' .
After the half time, the team leader Robertas Gurskas was exhausted, but he got help from other team mates !! Edgaras Lembertas made two three point shoots , and some good play under the basket from Tomas Burbulis And coach Rolandas Bartkus, we still managed to keep the close distance, and at the end of the third period we even went in front by two points 62-60. But then with some amazing shoots and individual skills by ''Knights'' Leader Darius Surginas, Knights finished the period 62-71.
The start of the last period was way better played by ''Wolves'' with Edgaras Lembertas, Juozas Kurbatavicius and Robertas Gurskas three point shoots we got close to our opponents. But at the end the fortune was smilling to knights, Robertas Gurskas missed three opened three point shoots and we lost the match by three points. But the team gave all the support for the upset team scooring machine - better luck next time !! Again - Man of the match, Robertas Gurskas with 36 points and 9 three point shoots only from him !!!!! Game ended 86-89, ''Knights'' win. Robertas Gurskas - 36 points, Rolandas Bartkus 17 points, Edgaras Lembertas 13 points, Tomas Burbulis 9 points. Best player from the ''Knights'' - Darius Surginas with 20 points and 4 three point shoots. A.Kisielius 25 points, Darius Surginas 20 points, E.Cerniauskas 17 points.
During the match, spectators donate more than 30 pounds for our fund to support charity program '' Help Giedrius Walk''!!!!!
After the game, players from ''Wolves'' And ''Knights'' went to ''Old Town Inn Bar'' at Cookstown to relax, and talk about the future plans for basketball in Northern Ireland.
