Exciting Day of Wheelchair Basketball at Cookstown Leisure Centre

The Cookstown Leisure Centre was alive with enthusiasm as we held an amazing day of wheelchair basketball, part of the Disability Sport NI (DSNI) competition. The day was packed with intense matches, highlighting the skill, commitment, and passion of all participating teams. The atmosphere was vibrant, with players, coaches, and fans uniting to celebrate the sport and its competitive nature.

Five Games, Endless Excitement

The day kicked off with a matchup between SouthWest Storm WBC and Causeway Giants (BL). The Giants put on a dominant performance, securing a 54-10 victory. Despite the scoreline, both teams showed incredible effort and determination, setting the tone for the rest of the competition.

In the second game, the Causeway Giants (WH) faced off against Craigavon Lakers. The Lakers demonstrated their strength and tactical prowess, winning convincingly with a 53-12 scoreline.

The third game saw the Giants (WH) take on the Home Team ''Werewolves'' in an intense battle. The Werewolves came out on top with a 27-7 victory, delivering a strong performance that showcased their teamwork and resilience.

The fourth match featured Craigavon Lakers going head-to-head with the Knights (TH). The Knights proved to be the stronger team, securing a solid 45-14 victory.

Finally, the Knights continued their winning streak in the last game of the day, claiming a 47-29 win over the ''Werewolves'' It was an excellent display of skill and teamwork from both sides, rounding off an action-packed day of wheelchair basketball.

While the competition was fierce, what truly stood out was the camaraderie and sportsmanship among the players. Events like these are a testament to the growing strength of wheelchair basketball in Northern Ireland, giving athletes of all abilities the opportunity to compete at a high level and enjoy the game they love.
