During the Half-Term break, Wolves Basketball Club hosted the "Basketball For Good" Camp at Cookstown Leisure Centre, bringing together boys and girls aged 9-13 for three days of basketball, teamwork, and learning. Running four hours each day, the camp focused on basketball fundamentals while also incorporating Good Relations Workshops provided by Sport Changes Life, emphasizing inclusivity, respect, and teamwork both on and off the court.
Camp Highlights:
🏀 Day 1: Introduction to basketball fundamentals, followed by an engaging Good Relations Workshop delivered by Sports Changes Life.
🏀 Day 2: Focus on defensive fundamentals and applying skills in real game situations to improve decision-making under pressure.
🏀 Day 3: Game Day! Players competed in games while also learning the importance of supporting their teammates from the sidelines, creating an exciting atmosphere using drums and plastic bottles filled with pennies to cheer on their peers.
The success of this event wouldn't have been possible without the support of Basketball Northern Ireland, with special thanks to Lauren and Niamh, and the backing of the Northern Ireland Executive Office.
A massive thank you to all the young players, coaches, and volunteers who made this camp a memorable experience! The "Basketball For Good" initiative continues to show how basketball can be a powerful tool for bringing people together.
